A stranger in your home: the objection nobody wants to say out loud

It is the first thing most women think and the last thing anyone puts in an advert. So let us put it first.

The Xoot team

Say the quiet part

Letting someone you have never met into your home, often while you are not there, is not a small thing in this country. Treating that as an irrational worry to be soothed away is insulting.

It is the correct first question. What follows is what we actually do about it, stated plainly enough that you can check it.

What verification actually means here

Identity verified against the national population register, not a photograph of a document. A liveness check, so the person who applied is the person who arrives — that gap is the real vulnerability in this industry and almost nobody closes it.

Background clearance as part of activation. And the part that matters most: a Xooter cannot record her own verification result. The system refuses the write. A badge you can award yourself is not a badge.

Your access details are not in a WhatsApp thread

Gate codes, alarm codes and entry instructions are encrypted, released only inside the booking window, and every access is logged.

That is a deliberately narrow design. The point is that even inside Xoot, this information is not casually browsable — because the realistic risk to a household is not a leaked mailing list.

What to do on your side

Use the in-app record if you want one; both parties are told. Keep access details in the app rather than in a message thread, so they expire with the booking instead of living in someone’s phone.

And if anything feels wrong, say so through the app rather than only to the Xooter. A report that exists in a thread nobody reads is not a report.

Quick answers

Are Xooters background checked?

Background clearance is part of activation, and the result is written by the verification provider rather than by the Xooter. She cannot mark her own check as passed.

Who can see my gate code?

It is encrypted and released only within your booking window, and each access is logged. It is not visible to staff browsing a table.

What happens if I report a problem?

It is recorded against the booking and reviewed. Reports cannot be edited or deleted by the person they are about — that is enforced by the database, not by policy.
